Apple May Release Five New iPhones in 2020

Apple usually released three new iPhones a year, but 2020 may bring a major shakeup for Apple's iPhone product plan. The recent report says we can expect five new iPhones next year. All this will be in-line with the expectation that 2020 will bring major design changes to the iPhone, with rumors predicting that at least two of the models will sport OLED displays.

The iPhone 11 and 11 Pro are just a few months old, but the details of their rumored successors are now making the rounds. This would signify a major shakeup to Apple's product policy if the story is right. Ming-Chi Kuo, a well-known Apple product analyst, with an impressive track record when it comes to revealing Apple's future plans. In his latest predictions, Kuo, says that these would include four new flagship models in different sizes and a new version of the iPhone SE.

The SE 2 is likely to have a similar design to the 4.7-inch iPhone 8 with updated internal specifications, similar to how the first SE has retained a similar design to the iPhone 5S, but with specifications of the iPhone 6S. Kuo says, later in the year, when Apple will make a major update, the following are all the five different iPhone models Apple is rumored to announce in 2020.
  • A 5.4-inch iPhone with two cameras
  •  A 6.1-inch iPhone with two cameras
  •  A 6.1-inch iPhone with three cameras
  •  A 6.7-inch iPhone with three cameras
  •  And a new version of the less expensive iPhone SE
The four new iPhones are said to be using OLED displays and will get 5G support, with the cameras being the major differences. The cheap 6.1-inch and the 5.4-inch phones would have dual rear cameras, while the expensive 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch iPhones are predicted to have three rear cameras plus a time-of-flight 3D sensor. According to the Kuo report on the design, the four new OLEDs will be similar to the iPhone 4.

In addition to the 2020 plans for the iPhone, Kuo predicts that the iPhone 2021 could completely abandon the Lightning port on the high-end iPhone and move to a fully wireless experience, proposing that iPhone won’t change to a USB-C for charging. He also predicts that iPhone SE 2 Plus will come with a full-screen design, but instead of using face recognition ID for facial recognition, it will rely on the Touch ID fingerprint sensor built into the power button at the side of the phone. It will have a screen size of 5.5 inches or 6.1 inches.
